Two members of the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) were killed in a joint forces operation led by the army in Bandarban, officials said Thursday. A single-barrel shotgun was recovered from the scene.

The operation was conducted early Thursday in the Sharonpara area of Suwalak Union, Sadar Upazila.

“We have received reports of the deaths of two KNF members,” said Bandarban Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Raihan Kazemi. “The bodies will be recovered and sent to the morgue.”

In early April, KNF members attacked three Sonali and Krishi Bank branches in Ruma and Thanchi upazilas, looting weapons, ammunition, and money and abducting the Sonali Bank manager in Ruma.

Since then, joint forces have continued their operations in the hill tracts, killing eight KNF members and arresting 84.
