UPDF to enforce blockade dawn to dusk on Wednesday

The United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF), a regional political organization, has announced a blockade in Rangamati’s Sajek, a popular tourist spot, for Wednesday (Feb 7)in protest against the recent killing of its two members.
The UPDF announced the blockade, set to last from morning until evening, in a press release on Tuesday evening.
Earlier in the day, a rally and protest march were held in Sajek, where participants carried the coffins of the slain UPDF members.
The demonstrators also called for the arrest of the assailants involved in the killing.
Audity Chakma, the head of the UPDF’s Sajek Unit; Newton Chakma, president of the Sajek Thana branch of the Democratic Youth Forum; and Ujjala Chakma, a member of the Hill Women’s Federation spoke at the rally.
