Daffodil International University has suspended a lecturer for making controversial comments related to the “Global Strike for Gaza” campaign.

The university’s spokesperson and Director of External Affairs, Syed Mizanur Rahman Raju, confirmed the development on Monday.

“Tahmina Rahman has been initially suspended. A decision on permanent dismissal will be made following university procedures,” he told reporters.

Tahmina Rahman was a lecturer at the Department of Journalism, Media and Communication.

She came under fire after reportedly threatening students with “double absences” if they missed class to support the Gaza solidarity strike. Following criticism, she later issued an apology on Facebook, expressing regret over what she described as a misunderstanding.
