Five Rohingyas arrested with arms in Ukhia

The Armed Police Battalion arrested five Rohingya people with local and foreign arms during a raid at Ukhia in Cox’s Bazar Sunday morning.

The arrested are – Mohammad Zobair, 22, son of late Kabir Ahmed of D-9 block of Kutupalong Rohingya camp-2 west, Dil Mohammad, 35, son of late Abdul Jalil of C-2 block of the same camp, Mohammad Khalil, 34, son of Abdus Salam of C-7 block, Mohammad Idrich, 28, son of Matiur Rahman of C-2 block and Mohammadullah, 25, son of late Sabbir Ahmed of A-6 block.

The arrested are active members of the Arakan Rohingya Army, an armed terrorist organisation in Rakhine. Among them, Mohammad Zobair is the commander of the terrorist group, according to APBn police.

14 APBn captain and additional deputy inspector general of police Md Iqbal, in a press briefing, said that acting on a tip-off, five Rohingya were arrested with local and foreign weapons after raiding the Kutupalong Rohingya camp-2 west in Ukhia.

During the drive, 5 foreign pistols, one indigenous gun and 18 rounds of bullets were recovered from their possession, he added.

The arrested were handed over to Ukhia police station along with seized weapons, said the APBn official.
