Myanmar arrests 18 Bangladeshi fishermen, seizes four boats
Desk News:
Myanmar’s Border Guard Police or BGP has arrested 18 Bangladeshi fishermen and seized their four boats off Shah Porir Dwip in the Bay of Bengal in Teknaf near Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.
The arrest and seizure took place as the fishermen aged between 16 and 25 were returning from fishing in the Bay on Tuesday afternoon, said Abdus Salam, the member for Ward No 5 under Teknaf’s Sabrang Union Parishad.
The upazila administration and the Border Guard Bangladesh or BGB have been informed of this, he said.
Teknaf Upazila Nirbahi Officer or UNO Parvez Chowdhury, however, said he has heard about the arrest of the fishermen and seizure of their boats by Myanmar’s BGP.
