Suspected UPDF-Prasit Group’s collector arrested

Joint forces apprehended Sumet Chakma (30), a suspected subscription collector associated with the UPDF-Prasit group.

The arrest took place in Baghaihat Bazar, located in the Sajek Union of Baghaichhari Upazila in Rangamati, based on credible intelligence.

On the afternoon of Thursday, July 13, authorities took Sumet Chakma into custody while he was in the act of collecting subscriptions.

The operation resulted in the seizure of several items, including a receipt book, cash, a mobile phone, and a motorcycle from him.

Following news of the arrest, members of the UPDF attempted to disrupt traffic on the Baghaihat-Sajek road.

However, their efforts were swiftly countered by the patrolling joint forces, who successfully restored normal traffic flow.

The UPDF claimed that Sumet Chakma was just a motorcyclist.

He, along with the items seized from him, was later handed over to the Sajek police station.

Sajek police station’s Officer-in-Charge Nurul Alam confirmed the incident.
