Bangladeshi loses leg in landmine blast at Myanmar border

A 48-year-old man has had the lower part of his left leg blown away in a landmine explosion at Nikuchhari in Bandarban’s Naikhangchhari upazila, bordering Myanmar. 

The incident took place somewhere between Pillar No 42 and 43 around 2:00pm on Tuesday (April 4).

The wounded was identified as Md Surut Alam, son of Bacha Mia, hailing from Cherarkul under the upazila’s Ward No 6. 

He was first admitted to Naikhanchhari Upazila Health Complex and then refered to Cox’s Bazar General Hospital for better treatment. 

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Romen Sharma said the wounded Bangladesh might be a cow smuggler. Otherwise, he was not supposed to go there.
