Three killed in firing between two armed groups in Bandarban’s Rowangchari

An incident of firing took place between the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) and UPDF (Democratic) in the Paikkhang Para area under Bandarban’s Rowangchari Upazila. Later, three bullet-ridden bodies were recovered from the scene.

Local people reported that on Monday, May 8, around 10 am, a shooting incident occurred between the two armed groups, focused on their struggle for control of the Ronin Para road adjacent to Paikkhang Para.

At around 3 pm, locals informed the police after finding the dead bodies of three civilians in the surrounding area.

The victims were identified as Lal Lian Bom, 32, son of Lian Thon Bom; Simlian Thang Bom, 30, son of Non Dao Bom; and Nemthang Bom, 43, son of Daukhar Bom – all hailing from Ronin Para under Bandarban’s Rowangchari.

Officer-in-charge of Rowangchari Police Station Abdul Mannan confirmed that three people died from gunshot wounds in the incident. The dead bodies have been sent to Bandarban Sadar Hospital Morgue for autopsy.

The incident has caused fear among the local people of the neighborhood, and security has been strengthened in the area.

Police are making efforts to arrest those involved in the incident. They are also investigating why the firing took place between the two groups.
