Three KNF terrorists killed in gunfight with army in Bandarban

Three members of the Kuki Chin National Army (KNA), the armed wing of the Kuki Chin National Front (KNF), were killed in a gunfight with the army in the Ruma Upazila of Bandarban on Sunday, officials said.

The confrontation occurred around noon in the Rounin Para area near the Ruma-Roangchhari border, according to a statement from the army. Weapons, radio equipment, and ammunition were recovered at the scene.

The deceased were identified as Eddy Thang Bom, 24, son of Gyanmun Bawm; Rualsangyam Bawm, 23, son of Sikyual Bawm; and Rualminlian Bom, 20, son of Zirton Bawm, all from Rounin Para.

Local sources said a joint force, led by the army, launched an operation after receiving information about a KNF hideout in the Debachhara forest. The gunfight lasted for about an hour, resulting in the deaths of two KNF members at the scene. A third member, who was injured, later succumbed to his wounds.

Bandarban Additional Superintendent of Police Raihan Kazemi confirmed the incident, stating that a joint force operation led by the army resulted in the deaths of three individuals at a KNF hideout in Debachhara near Rounin Para.

A joint force led by the army has been conducting operations in the hills as Kuki Chin National Front’s (KNF) is alleged to have been involved in bank robbery, mosque attacks, kidnapping, and looting in Ruma and Thanchi of Bandarban on April 2 and 3 this year.
