Transgender Rohingya gets life term for smuggling Yaba pills

The Cox’s Bazar Additional District and Sessions Judge Court on Thursday (Sept 22, 2022)  sentenced a transgender Rohingya to life term imprisonment in a case filed over smuggling of 10,000 Yaba pills into Cox’s Bazar.

Judge Abdullah Al Mamun of the court pronounced the verdict in presence of the convict, Shamsul Alam alias Kajol Shaha, 20.

The court also fined the convict Tk 20,000, in default of which, he will have to serve six months more in jail.

Confirming the matter, the court’s additional public prosecutor Sultanul Alam said that the convict used to live at Block-F of Kutupalong refugee camp at Ukhia upazila in Cox’s Bazar.
